What sets us apart

Did you know?

Unlike mass produced turkey, the Shropshire Bronze is plucked and prepared by hand without the use of hot water. This intensive wet-processing method used for other turkeys can foster the growth of bacteria which is why it is not recommended to eat it pink. Yet the dry preparation of a Shropshire Bronze which is done by hand, means that the meat is perfectly safe to eat pink - as you might with beef or lamb.

The family behind it

David and Sam Cartwright

Our family has farmed at Condover since the 1930s, and we have reared turkeys here since 1996. The last fortnight before Christmas is a team effort.

Most customers collect their turkey from us in person. We like that. It means we meet the people who will be eating something we have spent months producing.

We hope that collecting a Shropshire Bronze turkey becomes just as much a Christmas tradition for our customers as producing them is for us.
